The stunning new Delhi airport

On February 26, 2009 the new domestic departure terminal '1D' was inaugurated. Commercial operations will commence from April 19.

On May 03, 2006 Delhi airport was handed over to joint venture company Delhi International Airport Limited or DIAL.

On May 7, 2007 Airbus A380, world's largest passenger aircraft, made its maiden landing in India at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

On October 11, 2007 DIAL was awarded the prestigious ISO 9001:2000 quality certificate for Indira Gandhi International Airport.

On April 24, 2008 Delhi Airport went hi-tech - state-of-the-art Airport Operations and Command Centre went live.

On May 03, 2008 DIAL completed two years of operations.

On Jun 30, 2008 modernisation works of the international terminal of IGI airport completed.

Total passenger traffic in 2007-08 was 23.97 million. It is the 2nd busiest airport in India.

DIAL is a joint venture consortium of GMR Group (50.1 per cent), Airports Authority of India (26 per cent), Fraport and Eraman Malaysia (10 per cent each) and IDF (3.9 per cent).
Terminal with an area of 500,000 sqm is likely to be completed by March 31, 2010.
